Aloha from Fred and Debbie Newburg, owners of Hawaiian Tan and massage. We are a local family owned and operated business offering tanning and therapeutic massage services and products.
Our goal at Hawaiian Tan and massage is to provide our clients with quality memorable experiences. We are dedicated to a warm, friendly, helpful, and clean environment. We offer the highest quality tanning and therapeutic massage experience available. We are also committed to our customer's health and safety by providing state of the art tanning equipment and lamps as well as a professional highly trained and certified staff.
Our salon was originally opened in 1992 as Hawaiian Tan in Forest Lake's Northland Plaza where it is still in operation today. Hawaiian Tan was the first tanning salon in the town of Forest Lake and one of the first tanning salons in the entire area. The original owner of Hawaiian Tan operated the salon until late 2003. We purchased the salon in 2006 from the second owners and immediately began a major renovation. The salon interior was demolished and rebuilt from floor to ceiling including new computers, timers and tanning beds. We are so thankful for all of you that stuck with us through the dust and the noise. We really appreciate you.
The fall of 2007 we built and opened a second salon in Hugo. At the time Debbie was operating a therapeutic massage business that she established in White Bear Lake in 1990 named Body & Sole Therapeutic Massage. In an attempt to operate the tanning and therapeutic massage businesses more efficiently we decided to consolidate and operate both under one roof. It seemed like a good fit. When we opened the Hugo location we changed our name to Hawaiian Tan and massage.
In December 2010 we acquired additional retail space at our Forest Lake location and we are presently expanding and remodeling our salon again. The expansion will include a new therapeutic massage room, a larger and more complete Airbrush Tanning room, a lobby expansion, three new tanning rooms, and four or five new state of the art tanning beds.
